I think I am going to try this, or the brick/patio stone ideas if turning it upside down doesn't work! My pedal will not stay in place on our carpet. I have tried everything else suggested here except the velcro idea, because I am concerned the velcro will make the pile of the carpet go fuzzy. I just spent a few hours sewing this afternoon and retrieved my pedal way too many times from almost out of reach towards the front of my desk.

The best thing I've found (on and uncarpeted floor) is a car floor mat. Works great.

I bought a slant board and put that under the sewing machine and put my pedal on there works wonderful.....I tried everything but this works for me.

Great ideas! I can hardly wait to try them. I have tried the shelf liner, but it really didn't help much. I'm going to try some of the others. Thanks for the suggestions.

I put wooden blocks, or pieces of laminate flooring against the wall and my pedal against that. If I need to pull my machine table out to allow more room for a project I just add another width of wood.

RUGGIES....As Seen On TV .... these things work !!! My foot pedal is on carpet, nothing would keep it in place...tried RUGGIES and problem solved. If it get threads or fuzzy buildup, just rinse the ruggie, let dry and reuse.

That's what I use. It works ok. I'm wondering I'd a coat of fiber-lok would work. That's the stuff that you "paint" on the back of home made rugs to prevent slipping. I have some and if I try it I'll let you know how it works. There is a spray backing called SUPER GRIP that amazon has also. Ratings say it works great as advertised. I might give that a try. Come to think of it if it dries clear it may work on rulers and other slippery tools. Stay tuned. .

Museum putty. My favorite brand is UHU; it is white and it comes off when you want it to. It is reusable. I get mine at an art supply store.

Please know that my sewing room floor is oak with a urethane finish.

It works. And for lots of other stuff you'd rather not have wandering around. I also use it on vertical surfaces.

I don't have problems with my foot pedal moving but I did have issues with it overheating when on carpet. I have thick carpet in my sewing room. Previously I was sewing on a hard surface. I now put my foot pedal on a thin book so that air can circulate around it and not overheat. Am I alone in this problem?
