I have a Sizzix Big Shot I use for scrap booking and card making. When I was at Hobby Lobby a while back I saw dies for quilting that fit it. They're called Fabi dies and Sizzix has a machine for it, but it's the same as my Big Shot. I got a half square triangle and quarter square triangle die, but there are others you can get (tumblers, hearts, hexies I think). My point being that you can cut more than strips with your Big Shot. Here's a link. http://www.sizzix.com/shop/sizzixquilting

Update: Scanncut and Big Shot are gouging back so I can get Big Shot Pro and Die Cuts.

Scanncut was disappointing. By the time you set everything to cut you can cut the whole thing by hand. Maybe a in few years they will come up with a better machine for fabric.

I like the Big Shot but I want the bigger one and I now can afford it. Hope to find someone to swap dies with.

Sihouette has a new one for 399 coming out this month to replace the $2,500 one (my daughter had).

I like the scan n cut. I need lots of leaves for an applique and it cuts them quickly and well.

Oh that's just new software-not a new machine. I have a friend that has been testing the new software and is not happy with it so far. She's recommending everyone just stick with the older version for now until the bugs are worked out.
