It will probably last you a long long time without problems too.

My husband bought a Bernina 1000 for me when it first came out. He says he paid $695.00 and bought a Bernina Serger at the same time. I still use the 1000 as my main machine. What a "work horse."

I bought my 1030 new in January 1988. Can't remember the exact price but it was $900 something. It is still a workhorse and I depend on it a lot. No computerized machine for me!

I have the Bernina 1030, purchased new in 1987 for $1500. I still have it but passed it on to my DD for sewing his canvas, etc for the boat. It is indeed a workhorse. I have purchased other Berninas over the years but this has always been my favorite. My 1030 will be humming along many years after I am no longer on this earth.

I bought this machine new february 1994 it cost £694 I have used it constantly, it has oniy been serviced once and a small repair. I have worked as a sewing tutor for 35 years. I bought a new machine another make 3 years ago but still prefer my "workhorse"bernina 1031.

I bought my 1030 in around 1987. I paid $1400 or $1500. Which was a lot. But it was a Bernina. I still use the machine today. Runs like a top. Great machine.
No repairs needed yet ( jinx). And tuned up
a couple times. I would never get rid of it!

I know this is a really old thread. One good thing Bernina is doing is continuing to support these older models that have the “old style” feet with new releases. I just bought an old style ruler foot for my Bernina, which was foot that didn’t exist when these machines were new.
