    Default Portland, Oregon trip

I am traveling to Portland, OR for a long weekend and want to know if there are any quilt shops near the downtown area, where I will be staying. I can rent a car or take public transportation if available, to get there from the Hilton. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm not sure how close it is to downtown but Fabric Depot is in Portland. It's in my list for next time we're there.

They have good mass transit in Portland. The Max goes within a couple of blocks of Fabric Depot if you don't mind walking.

Fabric Depot is a must but plan a couple hours for it.

There are a couple in the downtown core area, but they're rather small and expensive. Might be fun to go just for the petting experience, though.

Whoops. Just looked online and realize that both shops have moved out of the downtown core area! Bummer!

Well, here they are anyway. Josephine's Dry Goods, www.josephinesdrygoods.com. And The Whole 9 Yards, www.w9yards.com.

I do also second the recommendation of hitting Fabric Depot. That store is the Mother Ship. Lol. www.fabricdepot.com

Absolutely go to Fabric Depot. I love the way Peckish describes it. More fabric than you will likely ever see anywhere else, and lots of it always on sale.

Whoops, you must have missed my post about Josephine's moving. According to their website, they moved to SE 30th & Division, but apparently haven't reopened yet.

And if we're listing shops in the 'burbs, don't forget HollyHill Quilt Shoppe!

    1914 Willamette Falls Dr #160
    West Linn, OR 97068
    503.607.0600

Make sure you check the websites or call for hours. Fabric Depot is open 7 days a week, but the smaller shops are closed on Sat-Sun, Sun-Mon, and a couple are closed just Mondays.

Fabric Depot! Definitely allot for 2-3 hours, it's huge! No sales tax in Oregon, good stuff here!

Thank you all for your suggestions. One of the folks who may be there is a former quilting teacher, maybe I can convince her to come along and "chaperone" because I am flying and there is a weight limit for suitcases! I will make time for the Fabric Depot and if there is any other time available, maybe visit one or two of the others.
