Yikes. My daughter is a cheerleader and i do all the mending and repairs for the squad - having ripped some of them apart, i don't know if I would want to make a quilt out of the material. BUT - do you have to use the actual materials or can you use quilt fabric to simulate the uniforms? in other words, something like an art quilt using ckcowl's idea of the football field or some other background. Can it be a wall hanging?

i made a football field for the background- green- white lines- goal posts- then the uniform is kind of slanted on top of the field= and a raggy style pompom...as in i used flannels layers- with a muslin base in the school colors- stitched 1/2" channels- cut between them- (chinnelled sp) and appliqued that next to the uniform
I am going to attempt his tomorrow, and appreciate ay tips. I would love to se your picture of the one you made. Think you can dig it up? Did you have a pattern for the football field, or just make one up as you sewed?

no I don't think so. I am doing it for someone else who had saved all his daughters uniforms, and wants me to make it for him...

As for a wall hanging, I don't know, I had suggested to him a throw for the couch or something
