Well, no wonder you got a blue ribbon.....your quilt is beautiful! Love how you brought those intricate borders into the piece, they go really well with the delicate paper piecing pattern. Congratulations!!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments! Centering the border and mitering was the most challenging part but this was also my first attempt at paper piecing too! Lots of firsts!

You fuse 2 layers of fabric back to back, cut the diamonds with the ruler, fold back the points so the bottom fabric shows, and place the whole thing on a 3rd piece of fabric. So then I treated the 3 layers as one and attached it like any other mitered border.

It's so beautiful. Dainty and refreshing to look at this summer. I don't know what technique you used for the border but it is unusual and pretty. I can see why you won! Thanks for sharing.
