Try washing it in GAIN detergent. I have had very good luck with that. I washed clothes that had been in a house fire, and it took the smoke out of them.

Blue dawn (original) is great! I use it to keep fabric from bleeding as well.

I would like to thank every one for their suggestions. I am waiting for them to sort the humungus amount and then will get some and see what happens. The people that bought the house suggested Lysol and then wash with regular soap. Will let you know when I get some.
