I agree with the rest, go with what you have already cut, the seams won't be noticeable. Save the rest of the fabric for your next project. Your friend will love it especially because it is from you.

I guess I agree with everybody else, but what I try to do is to match up the pattern the way you would when joining a drapery, so that it is less noticeable, and to have the cuts in places which are in low-interest parts of the pattern. But that is me, the fuss-budget!

Go with your plan you already have. I piece my borders all the time. And no one has ever said they noticed. Non-quilters just love that they have a quilt.

i'd definitely use what's already cut. as others have said, it's hardly noticeable and then you have a large chunk to use on something else

I piece borders all the time too. I don't want to buy a ton of fabric just to avoid piecing them.

I am willing to piece a border - but if there is a pattern in it, I like to make the join as inconspicuous as possible.

Of if the join is going to be unintentionally conspicuous, if possible, to add some sort of design element to make it look intentional.

Oh, I've matched the pattern as closely as I can. I'm a fuss-budget ,too.

Had I not already cut and joined diagonally I would go for one length, but life is too short to undo . Just think you have your georgous fabric in a large piece ready to use on a quilt JUST FOR YOU.

It's perfectly okay to piece your borders. The quilt police are not going to get you. I NEVER cut my borders first as so many patterns suggest as sometimes your blocks may be a slightly different size and then you need just a sliver or two to make it the right size. I would much prefer to add a large p9iece than a little sliver, but actually either one works so just don't stress about it. If you aren't entering it in a juried quilt show it doesn't matter.

I splice mine, but it was a tiny polka dot and not noticeable. I would try it and see how it looks.
