Does anyone here take omega 3 fish oil? I have heard of the great benefits to your heart from using it. I just wondered what brand would be suggested or if anyone has benefited from using it.

I think mine is Natures what ever. I got it at my grocery store. usually get it at Walgreens. large bottle. my Doctor swears by it and hopefully it will help my cholesterol and blood pressure too.

I have read that fish oil does help blood pressure and that is why I'm interested. But are some brands better than others, such as safer? I know some are quite expensive while others are not.

now that i don't know. you could ask a pharmacist or your Doctor but the pharmacist would probably know more about brands.

I've used a variety of brands. I've had stores close on me. Had to switch.

I used to take Flax for the same reason but it makes me ill. Switched to fish at 20 yrs old and never looked back.

It's also good to take if you're a dieter. Makes sure you're not depriving yourself of too much fat. That's the theory anyway. Avoid gallbladder problems.

I think its supposed to up your good cholesterol. Anyway I take 2 capsules a day, I think 'Nature Made' from Walgreens, I get them when its buy one get one free. I think the worry some people have is the heavy metal levels in the fish its derived from and that it would be even more concentrated in the oil. I would think there are regulations. I take it for cholesterol and my heart..Dr recommended it. I think the more expensive ones claim you won't burp "fish". I only do that every once in a while, certainly not often enough to justify the extra expense. :-D :-D

To help with the "burping" take them with a big meal
I read that many companies are using farm raised fish for the oil, avoiding the heavy metal problem :D:D:D

Believe it or not, I have a friend who controls his blood pressure with celery. When it gets high he eats 5 stalks of celery and it levels out really fast. Try it you might find it benificial. But fish oil is good for you and unfortunatly most people don't eat nearly enough.
