Hi K,
I marked this with a blue water soluable pen. I try to only mark registration marks...but because of the big rays ..I did have to mark those ahead of time. I also marked out my blocks because I needed to get the math right and I didn't want to be stuck while it was on the frame..so I did mark those out as well.

As far as how do I know what to quilt where? I can't ever answer that in a way to help anyone? I wish I could. I sketch things out sometimes it takes me months to figure it out ( if it's a special project like this one). I am a doodler and daydreamer by nature...and things swirl in my mind constantly. While things are swirling if I can match them to my projects I try to do that.....in this projects each element has a meaning for me which I explained on my blog. My blog address is in the signature of my post. I am not sure I can post it. I hope that helps you.

This is absolutely beautiful. I have been looking for a way that I can incorporate some of my deceased father ties into a quilt and seeing what you have done has given me some wonderful ideas.

Thanks so much.
