I have always mixed mine and have some beautiful blocks from them. Yes, a lot of them do bleed. I always wash mine before using with a color catcher.

I know Laundry Basket quilts mixes them up on a quilt kit I ordered from Craftsy.

I agree, who ever said there were rules. I always play to a beat of a different pianist
I'm so far out of the box, i'm down the block in an octagon. I love mixing it all up

yep. i wish that the quilt police would publish a new handbook of rules, every year or two. i can't keep track of them all. i've decided that it's easier to apologize than it is to check the rules, first. maybe i'll just bring the batik out of hiding, instead. i'm sure it'd like to breathe.

Yes, it's really true. Not too many years ago I was under the impression that you don't mix batiks with anything else. I never followed that, but then I never really bought batiks. Now I'll put anything together.

Like the rest I purchase fabric I like together. I don't even look at makers or anything I'm buying the fabric.

At last I can quit searching the dark places for those nefarious folk that sell fake identification so that I can hide my shame when I do what I've been doing for TWENTY FIVE YEARS!!! Wow... such a relief! *snicker*

I was a good little consumer and believed that premise for years until I asked a very accomplished quilter about it a few years ago and she set me straight.......now I combine my batiks with regular cottons often and the result is just fine....in fact, I like the stability of the batiks in with my more common cottons.

The older ladies at my guild are graduates from the Quilt Police Academy ! No one listens to them much anymore as they think their way is the only right way.

Is it just me, or do the designers seem to get most of their ideas from this very board?..Lol!
