Wow, Carrie--very pretty blocks. I especially like the lime green "leaves" in New Mexico block, plays off the purple so nicely. I'm in love with the purple background fabric you're using. You got so much done at your quilt retreat, hope it was lots of fun, too.

Thanks Jan I am thinking I need more black in my blocks for more contrast, so will keep that in mind the next time I am cutting fabrics. The last one especially really blends together more than I like....plus after taking the picture I noticed I mixed up two of the "diamonds" in one of the star points...oh well, it is staying that way.

Love your blocks Carriem! You really got a lot accomplished over the weekend. Wish I could have sewn along. I've decided to stick with king size. The blocks are sewn and I threw them over the bed. DH liked it so now I have a summer coverlet for our bed. But it may be a while before I find a light batik wide back. Here is my North Carolina for the week.

Toverly, love your colors in your NC star! It shines....lovely.

Carrie, your retreat has great results to show....maybe if I got started up again, I might be able to do a couple...or so. Love the blues you are using...beautiful blocks.

Toverly, that's a lovely cheery block. King size? Are you doing QAYG?

Love the blocks y'all! JanRN, I decided not to do QAYG. Sounds strange doesn't it? I practiced on a smaller quilt to see if I could fit a king on my Juki 2010. Turns out I can roll 4 star blocks in (with the batting and back) as long as I am not too wild with curves. No way could I use a walking foot, I can't really "turn" the quilt, but I can do columns a block at a time. Since it worked out 7 squares by 7 squares, that will work. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I like your block, Mirab--lots of contrast. Red/black/white makes for such a dramatic quilt.
