    Default Enabling Help Thread

Ladies, I need some enabling help. My friend is going to Las Vegas for her 60th birthday. She works part time in my local fabric shop and would love to visit a couple when she is in the US, so the question is do you have any recommendations in Las Vegas?

Also, to set expectations, roughly how much would a yard of Moda cost? I promise not to ask her to bring back any Christmas fabric *crosses fingers behind her back* <crosses fingers="" behind="" her="" back=""><crosses fingers="" behind="" her="" back="">Thanks in anticipation for your help.</crosses></crosses>

I don't know about the shops, but Moda prints are $12-$14 a yard in Dallas. Solids are less, $8-$10.There are also lots of christmas fabric fat quarter bundles.

There use to be some very nice quilt shops in the Las Vegas area but I haven't been there in 10 years. I would think around $10 to $11 for a yard of fabric. Don't remember if they have a sales tax.

There are a couple great quilt shops in Las Vegas. We go to LV about 3 times a year since we have 2 time-shares there and also the Mountain West Basketball tournament is held there and both my DH and DD attend all the games so I take the car and go see what is new.

Have thought about taking the tour it sounds like fun being with a group of quilters for a day. So far, too cheap to do it since I have my car there - but it does sound like fun.

We don't have Hancock Fabrics in San Diego, so I usually go there (there are 2) - they are okay - but they are rather old and run down. The quilt shops on the tour are more fun. The Fabric Boutique is right next door to a WallMart - it does not have a fabric department, so don't waste your time going to that WallMart. There are other WallMarts and one does have fabric, just can't remember which one. Since we have Joann's here in San Diego I have not gone to the ones in Las Vegas or Henderson.

The fabric prices vary, I really don't remember them being out of the ordinary - but San Diego can be a bit pricey compared to the rest of the US but much cheaper than in the UK.

Hope she has a grand time!

Quiltique quilt store shows Moda prices at $11.99, other prices from $10.49 - $11.99. The shop is large and recommended online. http://www.quiltique.com/

Quiltique is great. None of the few sops are near each other. They are scattered all over the city
