[ATTACH=CONFIG]488843[/ATTACH] Unless it isn't made out of denim. I collect so many jeans that I could make another one but no way. This is a queen size and very heavy. The color flannel is from hubby s shirts. I had my grandson in mind when I started it but now I'm not sure because now both he and his brother want it. I'm thinking of making another quilt using up the jeans only this time something easier. Just a square of some kind. Hope this picture post ok so you can see what I have been up to.
I made a rag one using 5 inch squares on denim on top bad flannel on the back, no batting. It was throw size, manageable and nice weight. The seam clipping after assembly was another story. Lol

That is a lot of work, but looks great! Denim quilts are really heavy. The first quilt I made for my son was made with denim, using the pineapple design, with blue bandana fabric for the pineapple corners, I tied it, because of the weight, the quilt turned out great, but it is really heavy and he doesn't like heavy quilts, I did not use any batting in mine. That might be a choice or the next denim if you decide to make one, using some of DH shirts for the corner blocks. perhaps let the grandsons draw for which quilt they get, with the understanding that both will be satisfied with which ever quilt they get.

Here is a denim quilt I made for my nephew last Christmas. It's a rag quilt using 8 1/2" squares, which finished out at 8". I backed it in flannel with no batting to cut down on the weight. It's still heavy, but not as heavy as it would have been with the batting. His name is Nealy, and as you can see I appliqued on his name using bandana fabric. Je also loves elephants, so I appliqued one right in the middle of it for him.

That' exactly what I was thinking. Since it is queen sized it can be separated into two lap sized, the boys would have their own, they would be a more manageable weight, and you don't have to make another. Easier to take seams apart than to make another.
