The demo and the pictures on the site are very poor in that the bottom side of the slidelock is not shown or what it looks like when you press down on it. There are round plastic/rubber type feet that are pressed down and press against the fabric to hold it in place.

MCH Thank you so much for this post. I to have been quilting a long time. I never had a problem with cutting until a few years ago. I'm in a wheel chair, and I balance on one foot when I stand to cut. My rulers always move. I've added those little round sand paper circles, got a handle to press down on, even bought a set of quiltsticks, but this is by far the best thing I have seen for the price. I've been putting off ordering a Quick Cut2 because of the price. So for the price, I think this is a wonderful deal. I ordered them both.

I got the small slidelock at a quilt show and love it, don't use my other rulers at all, wish I had had one years ago.
Worth the money.

Hi Lisadams. You can't see it so I will post a picture. When you press down on the wooden handle, these 1" plastic dots are deployed that really grip the fabric. I have tried it and it does really work. But it is sort of cutting backwards. You need another ruler to line up your cut. I saw a post many months ago about a quilter who was cutting backwards and didn't know she was doing it backwards. I have started cutting that way too and with the entire 6" ruler solidly on the fabric, I find the ruler is not moving anymore. You just have to find you nitch with what works for you !!

Much safer to use also, less chance on cutting yourself. I love mine.

Here are some more picture if it helps clear up any not understanding this tool. I didn't really get it until I saw it in person. The wood you see in the first picture below is also the handle. So when the handle is pushed down, those dots attached to the bottom come down and press against the fabric keeping it from moving. Second picture is how you cut a strip. This tool has no measurements on it which is the only reason I haven't been tempted to buy one yet. Hope this helps.

I use non skid shelf liner also. I have no problem with my fabric moving. Well maybe if I sneeze. Then watch me move!lol

I love the idea of using shelf liner. I have left over from a roll I used in my closet
