One of my grandmothers used to make quilts this way, but instead of making squares, she sewed long strips diagonally over an old top sheet, and cover the entire thing that way. Then bind it. Made light-weight quilts but with lots of memories, since she used left over shirt, skirt, pajama, curtain materials all in the same quilt.

So neat and tidy looking strip blocks! Love them! I have to do this but my scrap strips are all different widths. So I'm thinking about putting a black strip in the center as you did with the white and then have the rest of the strips random widths. I wonder how that would look??
