Default help with Janome Memory Craft 10001

Hello all, I am in need of help with my new (to me) embroidery machine. Someone was kind enough to give this to me but I can't figure out how to transfer designs from my computer to the machine. The person that gave it to me never used it so they are of no help to me....lol. Can anyone get me started, please?? Thanks in advance, Ann

Doesn't your machine use cards? If so, you would need a card reader/writer to transfer from the computer. If it uses a flash drive, then you are in luck. You just "copy" a design to the drive that shows the memory stick. For transferring to a card, you will need to look for a compatible transfer box. For instance, I have a Magic Box Plus that will write to the J-10000 (maybe the 10001?), but the new Win7 and Win8 have made it unusable...unless I can find a Win8 with 32bit processor (most computers have 64bit now). Why don't you browse Allbrands.com for embroidery software/ design transfer....maybe something available there..but costly. Not knowing your machine ( mine are Brother), I cannot go further with suggestions.

Go to a Janome dealer. They should be able to help you with it.

You should be able to download a copy of the instruction manual online - I did it a few years ago. Just google Janome 10001 instruction manual. I think several places had it..... I've not used the embroidery section but once several years ago, so I'm sorry I can't help you with that part

Here's a pdf of the manual for free:
    http://content.janome.com/documents/...%20MC10001.pdf

page 168 shows how to connect the machine to a PC. Do a ctl/F on words such as "computer", "transfer", etc. to quickly find the areas of the manual you want to check out.

You can permanently save this PDF by printing it to Cute PDF Writer (a free download, http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp ) (I love Cute PDF Writer for saving documents like this!) It's a good idea to save the PDF to your computer's hard drive, as there is no guarantee the PDF will be online forever.

My grandson downloads patterns for my Janome 10001 all the time. I bought a blank memory card from the Janome dealer and a usb cord to transfer the pattern from my computor to the card then put it in my machine and was all set to go. Ask you Janome dealer where to get the blank card. I also have a reader=writer box to use the cards from my 9000 in the 10001 machine. Good Luck, I really enjoy mine and have had it about 7 yrs.
