Machine Stitching Question
Does any one here have a Pfaff 1222 E? Do you know if it has a blanket stitch? If so which button is it? If not, what stitch would you recommend I use for machine applique? (and which button is it) I do raw edge only as I have Cerebral Palsy and have trouble with the fine motor skills that come with turning over and pressing the edges.

That's a blind hem stitch. The second from the top on the left might possibly work. It's an overcast for knits. If you shorten the width so only one leg of the stitch shows it would probably be more similar to a picot stitch, but could do well on heavier material like a quilt sandwich.
The top one that looks like an upside down W is a featherstitch. Used for lingerie, but also very useful in embroidery.
You can use the blind hem - but the bite of the leg would be a V regardless of how you sized the stitch.

Thank you! This is a used machine I got for $15 bucks and none of the manuals I have found online go into what the stitches are, or what they do. I have used a zig zag stitch before but I really like the look of the buttonhole stitch. I am it the market for a new machine with automatic stop/start so I will add a buttonhole stitch to my lists of features to look for.

Most mechanical sewing machine do not have a buttonhole stitch. I learned that when i bought my first Bernina 1030. I then a few years later bought my Bernina 1530 just to have the buttonhole stitch.

Right, none of the vintage Berninas have a true button hole stitch. Even my vintage Elnas and Viking "buttonhole" cams leave a lot to be desired. But $15 for the 1222 is a steal. I paid much more for mine and it's a great machine. The IDT is a great feature and I love it.
