My grandchildren love to take a warm rice bag to bed with them to snuggle with. I made two for each of them last year and they request to have them both warmed up at night to snuggle with. Tummy aches are also soothed with warm rice bags for kids.

Instead of rice or buckwheat, I use sand ~ you know the kind you buy in big bags at your local hardware store. I tried lots of different fillers ie...rice, flax, etc. but I kept burning whatever I had put into the bag because I like mine really warm . So, I had some jars of sand in my sewing room for another project and I thought Hey, I'll try this and it works wonderful. No more burned smell. Works like a charm. Give it a try and see what you think.

Dotty.............Thank you so much for sharing your tip with all of us, about the rice. I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I do believe that it will in time. Please do let us know how your project turns out using the buckwheat hulls. Everyone will be anxious to know too!!

m-fay........I see you have been busy catching up before October!! I really like how your rice bag turned out. I think it's really nice when we can use pieces that we already have put together. Thanks for sharing with us today.
