I see I'm going to have to send all of you some rain. Once it starts, we'll have plenty to spare.

So far, though, just heat for one final weekend (I hope). The wineries haven't started shooting off their air cannons to shoo away the birds yet, but they will soon. THEN it will officially be fall here.

Oh -- almost forgot the most important part -- I just finished my mini for MizMelly!

Cheesehead that is such pretty fabric along with the start of the quilt.

letsquilt I will sure be at the post office. lol.. I am all excited too. I must confess though that mine won't be going out that fast. I hope that is ok? Lot's of appointments this month, and visiting my dad in the nursing home has me slowed up a bit.

That is ok JuneBillie,I'm in no hurry. I was making one for myself and thought it would be a great one for you too!
My dad is 86 and luckily he's still on his own,but he is 3 hours from me but my sister lives very close to him so he's not all alone. So trust me I'm in no hurry!

Cheesehead,
Those colors are stupendously fabulous!!! Maybe you need to send an extra mini to someone??? Anyone come to mind??? Anyone???

Tlambing,
I have one brother who is 6 years older, believe you me I had to learn real quick how to "survive".
Hmmm, well, I got nothin'...zilch, zip, zero...fresh out of "zingers"...

JuneBillie,
Yes it was just heartbreaking hearing about the kennel and the animals. What's worse is that fire was started by a man who was trespassing on land and using a grinder on some metal part of his car, in the middle of bone dry drought ridden prairie straw (I say straw, as it was so dry the grass more resembled straw). We were all in a burn ban, had been for a long while.
The winds were 60-70 mph that day, yes 60-70...so it was a recipe for disaster. Once the wildfires start, they spread so fast!
It was also a Sunday, so the kennel wasn't as fully staffed as a weekday. But the owner hurried over, and the staff that was there raced about, just opening every area, even though it meant not keeping track of every animal, it gave them a better chance to live than being caged.
I looked back at news reports, it actually burned 58 homes as well.
Here's a link to a news article about it:

http://m.lubbockonline.com/texas/201...ndle#gsc.tab=0

So we "Texas Panhandle People" are so very thankful for any rain we get..

Take care all,
K

Going out to breakfast this morning and then back to my sewing room! I have a round robin that I've vowed to get done today.....Oh please, I just don't want to think about it anymore. It's fun, but haunting. Then onto my mini

Kiff,
That news story is so sad. Such distraction and horrible loss of life (animal and human)
My MIL lives near Yosemite and this season have been plagued by many fires. The most recent was very close to her and did some pretty major damage to her little town. Awful

On a happier note, Kiff I wave my little white flag...can you see it blowing in the breeze my friend :P

Have a wonderful Sunday all!

kiffie, I have one brother 6 years older than me also. I know what it's like!
I am working on my mini and should be able to mail it by next weekend. I would like to mail it a little earlier since it is going to Canada. I hope she likes it. I will post a sneak peek later.
