Chester the bunny: LOVE that quilt! I was planning that quilt in a different fabric, but now must do it in homespuns! Just beautiful, it's so warm and inviting. Did you wash the HS first, and have you washed the quilt since making it? I'm concerned about how they hold up, given their loose weave. Also - did you have any trouble combining the HS w/ the cotton background fabric?

Peaceandjoy --Thank you for the compliment.
I always prewash everything and the homespuns sometimes bleed a bit more so another reason to prewash. I find that washing and drying the fabric tightens up the weave a bit. I gave the quilt to my sister who lives in another province so I have only seen the quilt once since I gave it to her years ago. It has held up well. There are no problems combining the HS with the cotton background, if anything, it stabilizes the block because of the tighter weave. Hope that helps.

Here are a couple that might interest you. The first is for a French Braid type pattern and the second does up really nice in a plaid setting provided you have a good balance of light, medium, dark.
