Question half of a lone star---into a quilt?

On a recent trip to local thrift store I bought a bag of fabric. Inside was a fully pieced HALF of a lone star! It measures over 48" from point to point. My question is this--has anyone ever appliqued a HALF of a lone star onto background fabric and made a quilt?

I have never seen one before. Can you post a picture of the fabric?? Maybe someone one on the board would have that fabric stored in their stash.

Someone posted a picture or a link of a half star and they put it along one side with the points stretching towards the middle. It looked neat.

I think it would look pretty great to applique it to a piece of fabric with the straight edge of the star against the straight edge of the background and the star going out toward the middle, with maybe 1/3 of background showing. Hope this makes sense.

If you appliqué it with the points toward the top of the quilt, it would look like a sunrise. Just build the rest of the quilt around it. It could also be part of a modern quilt with lots of empty space in the quilt. Make a couple smaller half lone stars and distribute them randomly. Modern is a twist on an old standard; it would certainly be that.

There are such good ideas here. The creativity on this board helps all of us. A couple of other places the half could go is as a curtain valance, or on a mantle above a fireplace or a sofa table cover. I like the idea of the bed runner too. Modern sounds good. Could you post a picture for us to see the colors you will be working with?

Here is one I had saved on Pinterest. It is a tutorial for making one but you can see what half a lone star looks like

You could also applique 1/4 of the star into opposite corners of the background, with the points facing each other. I, too, would love to see a photo of what you have.
