Default Thanks to Jon - Another for the collection!

This is one sweet machine! I fall in love with them all, but I'm extra partial to the little ones. Sorry the pictures aren't real good. I didn't want to haul the bigger machine downstairs, but I don't have good lighting for photos upstairs (great for sewing though)

A big THANK YOU to Jon for donating this to my collection. This machine fills two gaps, it's a 3/4 Davis AND has a top tension.

Here she is next to a full size Davis VS Underfeed machine.

I've been after one like this for some time, so I've very happy to have this one!

You've come a long way in your collecting machines. Now, do you have one for every attachment?

    Hi Cathy,

Glad you like the little Davis "N" badged "Capitol" and it arrived safely. Figure you know this but for any curious it uses Davis Long needles, and a real difficult to find 3/4 size shuttle and bobbin (unlike Singer VS).

    Enjoy

Is there any chance that some of these 3D printers will be able to recreate some of these bobbins and shuttles? Maybe as more durable materials come out? I have some younger friends that are to the point of drooling over these things, I don't know that much about them.

I'd put my faith in ebay before I'd trust a printer to print steel. If your friend sticks with Singer, parts are pretty easy to come by. Never seen one of these printers but it sounds like a pipe dream to me for parts with any kind of substance---but I'm just a dumb country boy from NJ.

Actually - I am still looking for the early Eldredge (Pre National). I think I have attachments that will work with it. I won't be sure until I get the machine. They don't fit anything else, and they did come in a box marked "Eldredge" so I'm hopeful.

I do have some older attachments, but other than the Singer 12, I'm not going after machines that they would fit. Instead I'm going to see about sending them to someone that collects the really old machines. Right now it's his turn to send me something.

If you have extra pieces for old machines, by any chance do you have a front shuttle slide for a Minnesota A treadle? Or do you know someone who might? I would like to get my machine in working condition.

CountryCat - do you know who made your machine? I know most of the Minnesota badged were made by Davis, but not all of them. If you aren't sure, then post a picture.

Unfortunately the slide plate is the most commonly missing part - I've bought really nice machines with no plate, and then derelicts of the same machine just to get the plate. Or you have someone like SteveH make you one, which is probably cheaper!

Yes, the "A" was made by 4 or 5 different makers so proper ID is a must. Old credit card or cardstock cut to fit the opening is a good temporary solution.
