I agree with adding another column or two of the colorful blocks, as needed to get your desired size, then just add one strip of black as the border before binding. He will love it!!!

I'd be tempted to do a wide black border and a multicoloured binding (using fabric from the blocks). Very cool quilt.

I would probably add two more strips of the colored fabric, then add a strip of the black equal to the black strips in the quilt as a border all around before adding a black binding.
Yep, I agree.

Beautiful and unique. I had not seen this pattern. My first impulse was to find a print with all the bright colors and make one wide border to get to the size you want. Maybe bind it with black.

really lovely, but agree it needs a border... could use any color that is in quilt, or even a couple borders.

Fantastic look...no border...just black binding after you add some width with colors.

I have to agree with Prism99 to add 2 more strips of the colored fabric, then a border of black. Your DGS will love this quilt as it's perfect for a boy. It's beautiful and he will be proud to have it on his bed, especially when it was made by Grandma.

The would be great for a scrap quilt. I might just have to make one.

I have to agree with this as well!
