Default Are needles allowed on planes?

I know this question sounds silly but I'm leaving for Perth tonight and hope to do some hand applique work onboard. Are sewing needles allowed?

It would be best if you rang the airline and asked as then you would get a definite answer., as they change rules all the time

Each airline seems to have their own rules ( to a point) the last time we flew I had a small travel kit prepared with English Paper Piecing. A small pair of embroidery scissors ( my stork scissors) pins, needles, thread and prepared pieces all in a plastic snap close box. No problems on 3 airlines, transfers. Then, coming home second transfer they would not let me take my case on the plane! What a pain! Luckily I had plenty of time I wound up having to mail it home. That was 3 years ago and I have heard the rules have ( eased up) some. But, call the airline or check their website to see exactly what you can/ cannot take.

Each airline seems to have it's own set of regulations...Last time I traveled by air I was allowed scissors that were under 7 "..I forgot I had them in my carry on...

There's a government website that will tell you what's allowed (or not). I think you could Google it...just make sure it's the government website. Sometimes I print the list and take it with me if I think there will be a question. I have often carried needles to cross stitch. They allowed knitting needles in the past. Good luck!
