Default Giving a review on an Online Fabric Shop

I don't normally buy from a fabric shops online but since some of you know that I have been looking for a certain fabric called Grand Finale by Moda Fabrics. I was only able to find the fat quarters at http://www.thehometownquilter.com. After ordering it the owner was very fast in shipping it and the package was rapped up nicely. I was very pleased with the company and will order from them again. Please share with me any fabric shops you have bought from online and give a review good or bad please?

I can't afford to buy much fabric now. I have shopped at several online shops and been happy with my purchases.

My favorite online shops are:

1. Fabric.com - great service and large selection of quilting, fashion and home décor fabrics.

2. Hancocks of Paducah - great service, but occasionally runs out of item ordered. Great sales.

3. Equilter.com - great service and large selection of fabrics, but a little more expensive than other shops. Check out their sales section. (http://equilter.com/)

I had one very bad experience with a shop not mentioned here and would rather not write out the details.

ADVICE: If you are shopping at an online shop for the first time and it has not been recommended to you by anyone, ask for an explanation of their shipping policy and what happens if the order is not received.

Connecting Threads (www.connectingthreads.com) is another I use. Fabric is very good quality and prices are good.

Since I have to have reasonable shipping overseas - nothing beats fabricshack.com. The customer care is also terrific. I have ordered from them +20 times over the years and I have had no issues what so ever.

I am like a lot of other quilters, unable to just buy ALL the fabric I want. I found after my first husband died, that I really wanted VALUE for my money. So with my quilting just like other things in life, I want value for my dollar (or lots of dollars - lol). I've gotten some good things from all the shops listed, but one that has been overlooked is: Fort Worth Fabric Studio - Jodi (the owner), answers her own phone. She's a small business owner (like so many of us), she has one employee. So Jodi knows what is going on at all times. I have ordered from her and will continue to place orders with her. When I receive something from Fort Worth, it comes with a hand addressed label (I know computers are faster, but they are not personal). I have nothing to do with this company, other than being a VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER. So I feel I receive value, because the products are wonderful. But most of all the personal service Jodi gives her customers is GREAT.

I have had good experiences from The Fat Quarter Shop and Christa Quilts.

I have purchased online only after viewing results from the QB members. I add to favorites the companies with the best reviews then I also check on line. I order very little fabric online but adding to favorites is my best way to note the good companies. I do a lot of local shopping. Here in Corpus Christi, we have a few LQSs and big box and Walmart in my backyard. And other stores within an hour's drive. So if you add to your favorites the best one's you will always have the info nearby.

In addition to several already mentioned I like a few more.

Thousands of Bolts http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/
Whittles http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/
Quilt Fabric Closeouts http://www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com/

All of these offer the big name manufacturers but they are previous lines. I have excellent results from all of them. My absolute favorite has already been mentioned...Hancocks of Paducah

I might add they have great sales on most all of the online stores along with pretty good prices on shipping. All I have purchased from have had unbelievably quick delivery.
