    I pin baste my sandwiches. On the first run of cross hatching I put a lot of pins close to the line I'm sewing for every line. I have to take the quilt off the machine and move the pins for each line. It takes time to do this but it's worth it because it keeps the back of the quilt from having bubbles in it. I make up the time on the cross hatching in the opposite direction because I don't need any pins then and I can just sew my lines. I followed the points in the squares to cross hatch.
