Sorry to hear you joined the club! I cut myself years ago while cutting out some fabric with my then 18 month old running around the room. Definitely not good to cut with distractions.

I have a SlideLock that I love, but I use other rulers (ShapeCut) that I should probably get a glove for.

I use the Slidelock with the Shape cut ruler, in fact it makes it more sturdy and easier to cut in the slots.

    I'll have to try that.

I use a fileting glove. Learned my lesson. It hangs right next to my rulers and rotary cutters. I grabbed one of DH zip ties and stuck it into the cuff of the glove. Not in the way.

I've done that three times. One was really deep. I used pressure and then super glue. Kept air from getting in and causing pain. A trainer at a high school told me it's cheaper and stronger than liquid bandage. Was skeptical at first. Worked for me. Haven't done it in while. Lesson learned I hope to slow down and be more careful.

Love mine!!!!! Really, really cuts down on accidents while actually using the rotary cutter. Doesn't help if you don't close the blade. So I got the one you have to squeeze to use. It closes automatically when you lay it down.

Welcome to the club. Sorry you had to join.

When I use the June Taylor Shape Cut I place a 6" x 12" on the Shape Cut to help stabilize it. I put the ruler on the plastic strip I'm going to cut, but not at the edge. For example, if I'm cutting a 6" strip, I put the ruler between 5-1/2 and 6. Then I can hold the ruler without getting my fingers too close to the cutting slot. Also, when doing this, I find that if I use the 6 x 12 ruler upside down it is easier to use.

    Hope you heal quickly.

A couple of months ago, I joined the X Club... Middle finger was over the edge and got in the way of the rotary cutter. Hubby took me to ER and I got 4 stitches. The Dr. was a gal one of my sons took to prom in high school. So we chattered and time went fast quickly. But I catch myself checking finger placement quite often...

I'll have to try this trick. I probably would have needed a stitch even though it didn't look like much at the time. When I changed the bandage this morning, there was more bleeding. Or perhaps I should have used the glue as someone suggested.
