That light can be, or should be able to be, rewired. From your pic I can see the two screws that hold the bottom of the fixture to the top. However I can also see some damage from a short circuit. So to be sure I'd have to have it in my hand to check it out.

Another Sewmor
Here is my Sewmor, a model 303 with the amusing feather and 'Featherweight' logo. It is aluminum, which explains the name, and I've always wanted an aluminum 99 to hand crank. Unfortunately, the machine is longer at the handwheel than a 99, and a crank won't fit. The motor works, but was rewired with ugly fat cord. I need to find someone to notch the wheel, and then a crank should fit. But, isn't she cute???? And she sews nicely.

That ugly white cord can be replaced with a correct cord very easily. Why ruin a perfectly sweet machine by gouging a great notch in the hand wheel?
Wiring is the easiest part to do. Replacing a hand wheel when you get tired of hand cranking just might not be so easy.
