Love it. My Mom did one for a queen size bed years ago and it took her years to do. I always loved that quilt and my sister has it now. I'd like to make one sometime and I thought about using scraps and now that I've seen how nice yours is I think I will do that. I like doing hand work and I like things I can take in the car or on a plane. How long has it taken you to get this far? And how do you ever know how much of the white to buy?

It scares me too. You're doing this by machine? That would be my preferred method. A motto I go by is "I didn't pay good money for a sewing machine to do things by hand!" I always find ways to do things by machine that are traditionally done by hand.
Your quilt is coming out beautiful! Please continue to post pictures.

That is going to be a gorgeous quilt. I made a CW quilt ONCE. I did the background on my machine but when I set in the colored squares, I hand stitched that part. I call is my "Quilt From Hell". It was a king size quilt, purple and white. The center was dark purple and then it got lighter and then back to the darkest purple at the edges. It was gorgeous. I gave it to my daughter. She bleached it. Turned one of the darker purple fabrics into an ugle pink and ruined the overall effect. I could have strangled her! She will never get another quilt from me and I will never make another Cathedral Windows.
