Another knowledgable source of fw info and resources is Betty Neff, aka the Pennsylvania Quilter. She and her husband restore and sell featherweights and parts. Her website is www.bettyneff.com. Enjoy your Featherweight!

I shop at Sew-Classic, the prices are good and there are frequent sales. Shipping is via first class in a couple of days. Lots of information on vintage machines.

For attachments, try Sew-Classic.com. Jenny has feet for most machines. She knows which ones are long and short shank and will fit your machines. I just received a humongous order and everything was great. She is really honest about what works and what doesn't. I did order a couple of hand cranks from them and they weren't so bad either. She had even greased them. They worked smoothly and I was satisfied with the quality. Maybe they aren't original Singer quality, but not bad. I wouldn't know original Singer, as they are rarer than hens teeth in these parts. Not a chance of finding a real one. After all, life is a compromise. I called Jenny and we discussed the hand cranks and 221 parts. I ordered the felts for my 221 and 301 and that put them out or their smell misery. A cake of Irish Spring soap in the case and that as finally solved. Can't beat the price compared to the other sites. I got the order in two days, from Ohio to TN. Love their solid state foot controllers and that was the best money I ever spent.

I used teh Scotch reusable mounting strips that Bonnie shows in her blog about it. They can be used over and over and so far I haven't seen any sign of them doing damage.

Will a generic foot like this one fit? Will I need an adapter?

It might work but personally I'd buy this one-

It's made for straight stitch machines. You can't go wrong buying from Jenny at Sew Classic. I've been buying stuff from her for 5 years and have been happy with every purchase.

I'll probably just use the credit card trick. I have 1/4" feet on my current machines and still go slim at the end of the seam, so maybe a longer guide to butt up against will help me. Thanks for the link though.
