Default Should I sash these tipsy tumbler blocks

I started making a tipsy tumbler quilt. I am wondering if I could sash the blocks. Has anyone made this quilt? I don't have any fabric to try and see what it would look like so I am coming to the experts for advice. If you think it would work what color would you use. Thanks for your help.

I'm thinking a small red border around the whole quilt and then, a piano key border done in all the prints you used and the cream background fabric as well, then finish with red binding. I don't think each individual block needs to be sashed.

If you don't sash, you are going to have to deal with trying to press the bulky seam allowances. If you add 1 inch red dashing between the blocks, you will have 1/2 inch sashing when sewn in and all the block seam allowances can be pressed out into the sashing.

Tartan makes a good point! I just did a search on other quilts like this and most of them don't have a sashing.... you could use the background colour to make a sashing and that would keep it looking similar to the original design but make it easier to piece the top together.

Aesthetically, because the tumblers already "float" within their blocks, I wouldn't sash them.
Pretty cute quilt! I'm imagining all kinds of cute ways to quilt this....spilling drink, bubbles, puddles under the tumblers, waves in the background, other kinds of motion designs.
