I was very confused by "on-point" dimensions when I first started quilting in 2002. When I wanted to know how many
blocks would fit across a certain size quilt I didn't have the more handy info that bearisgray listed above. I ended up calculating what width each size block would be and keeping that as a chart on my computer. Here it is if anyone needs it
On-Point Squares: width
straight-set on-point-set
1” 1.4
1.5” 2.12”
2” 2.83”
2.25” 3.18”
2.5” 3.5”
3” 4.25”
3.5” 4.95”
4” 5.66”
4.25” 6”
4.5” 6.36”
