applique patterns
Now I am wanting to do another applique quilt. What's a good book to go to? I've done a Fat Cat (Funky Chickens) and loved doing that one and I have done a Sweetheart houses (it's at the quilters). Would love to see some pictures too of your appliqued quilt. I don't do needle turn, just raw edge. Thanks for responses. Oh, and I've done my avatar. LOL. How could I forget that one, it is right in front of me.

You can use almost any image for applique. I frequently use children's coloring books to get ideas. If it is a photo, I make several copies, and adjust until I get it the size I want. I have done multiple floral quilts, as well as Sunbonnet Sue, and one with teapots. I am in the process of finishing one called Happy Scrappy Baskets ( I think it was by leatheflea). It didn't appear to have a specific pattern, so I just studied it a lot, and drafted out a similar pattern on graph paper, then added the flowers and leaves from other patterns I already had. The possibilities are almost endless, whatever method of applique you choose to use. So, as the old commercial used to say, "Just Do It"

donnajean your quilts are beautiful!. Once you start looking for applique patterns and designs you will see them everywhere. Coloring books are great for children's quilts. Google applique and I will bet you will find more than you ever dreamed. Best wishes on your hunt and quilting. Your avatar is adorable.
