Default For Eagle Scout!

I have made this one myself and did not enjoy quilting it. So when my friend brought this over to quilt, I took a deep breath., so... I quilted in the ditch on the waving flag, a stipple with stars around the flag and some detail in the feathers on the eagle. The only thing I don't like, is my writing of the young mans name on the little Sash in the eagles claws. Any suggestions for helping me with my writing words or numbers when I quilt! I'm open to suggestions!

Great quilt and I would use white chalk to write in names and messages before quilting. It helps to get the spacing right and you can plan how and where to backtrack.

I can see that it would be a challenge to quilt, but you did a lovely job on it.

I write words, names, etc. on tissue paper; pin the paper in place on the quilt & quilt (sew, write, whatever) over what is written on the tissue paper. It tears right off. I cut it large enough to have room to pin out of the way. I have done several quilts this way. Hope this helps.

Beautiful Quilt, I would try writing his name in washout pencil or marker then quilt it on by hand. you could also get someone with beautiful writing to write it on using a micron pen ( they are permanent pens for fabric ) any way you do it, its lovely.

I once did calligraphy sayings around the wall close to the ceiling in our dining room. What worked best for me was to pick a font on the computer and enlarge it to fill the space I needed. Print it out. I would re-trace on tracing paper using a frixion pen or pencil, so the printer ink doesn't transfer to the fabric, just in case. The spacing and letter formations are perfect. Hope this helps.
