I just squeeze the lines of glue into a grid. I've done about 20 quilts this way and never had any problems. I do NOT dilute. I buy the small bottles because they are easiest to squeeze. One bottle lasts for 2 quilts. This time of year, they are on sale for $.50 each. I glue baste on my bindings also. With both the quilt sandwich and bindings, a thin line is best, but easy to get using the bottle (no special tip or diluting). Move fast when drawing your grid. I do charity quilts 50"x60" and can do a glue baste in 10 min per side.

Elmer's Glue basting is the best thing since sliced bread. IMHO
