Another way to baste a quilt standing up. I have not used this method...but had a friend that had good results. Her husband put a heavy line up in the basement---very tight--has to be very tight so the sandwich is straight with no swagging. She would hang her backing..smooth out very smooth then same with the batting then the top. She would stand and baste. She would run her hand behind when needed to catch only the layers needed.

In my part of the country (California) we have some lovely
Mennonite ladies who do hand quilting in their church meeting
rooms.

You might want to check on this if you don't have the time or
strength to do your own hand quilting.
