Both quilts are beautiful Siodach! It looks like two different patterns with one coordinated and one scrappy. I think the secondary pattern shows up more with the coordinated colors because with the scrappy, your attention is drawn to the fun fabric. Great job.

I have to say that I did not know that this block was a pattern. I had made a friendship star and it was boring, so opensed up the stitches and added the corners to make the background less boring. And now I see from siodach's pastel quilt that I copied something else! I guess I owe apologies to someone, somewhere.
Firstly, thank you (all of you) for your lovely comments on my top, it's much appreciated .

Secondly, can I just politely say poppycock and piffle! I didn't use anyone else's pattern to make that wee quilt, I just put together some left-over charms into friendship stars to use them up! I'd actually forgotten I'd made it till I found the photo.

You designed a lovely 3-block runner using only HSTs. It wasn't intended to be enlarged.

Your star centre is snowballed, mine isn't.

Your large square is constructed from triangles, mine is a full square.

So there's 3 obvious differences straight away!!!!!!

Friendship stars are a traditional and universal block.

To say you've accidentally breached copyright with your design is like saying I've copied some famous poet because I've used the same alphabet! Or that I've copied Kaffe Fasset cos I used his fabric squares in a wee kids quilt.....

Please don't beat yourself up, I wish I hadn't posted that second photo now.

hugs, Kate

Kate - I think the way I put my comment I ruffled feathers. I loved your second quilt, I am so glad you posted it. It is gorgeous in the light scrappy colors. I love it so much I may try my hand at a scrappy one!

Please be assured that none of my feathers are even slightly out of place :-). I was afraid that I'd made YOU feel bad about your lovely pattern, which I would never wish to do. I very much appreciate the work you put in designing these mysteries for us (and yes I do like scrappy too ). Looking forward to the next one already.....

Take care, K

I finally finished the top. I took dhanke's idea and turned the blocks. I did not change the centers like hers so ended up with a surprise star. Thanks to Judy for the great mysteries.

Dotty and Diane thank you so much for the beautiful fabric you sent. I was in Houston for a week and just got home last night, and left my camera at my daughter's but will post pictrues as soon as I get it back.

Dotty knows I love chocolate and sent 2 beautiful pieces of fabric and a package lovely little buttons that look like iced cake iced slices and dipped strawberries, too cute Dotty.

Diane, I love the huge piece of cream with blue stars. It work perfectly with my next project.

Thank you both for your generosity.
