I love thrift stores!

Oooh that is a beautiful shade of blue!
It's been slim this year and the thrifts have been $$. I saw a pretty clone in our local thrift yesterday in a case that was also in decent condition BUT the asking price was 70.00. Too rich for me! If it doesn't sell I know they will lower the price but not by much.

There's a pair of 99's in bentwood cases at a thrift store near me - they've been there 2+ months because they want $75 each for them and they're not really in fabulous shape. One of them is slightly tempting - knee controlled with the knee bar intact but I already have two 99's so I'm kind of glad it's overpriced, LOL.
I've pretty much gone into bargain-hunting mode now that my house is full of machines. The same time I bought this White, there was a nice-looking 15 Clone, a "General" - lovely shiny paint and nice gold & green decals, moved great, decent case, overall a wonderful machine and I'd have loved to take it home...but they wanted $48 for it and I'm too cheap to pay that much for a machine that isn't on my wish list. The $25 turquoise White, however, I could NOT pass up!
The White has a name, now, courtesy of a friend of mine. Betty, after Betty White! I adore Betty White so it's a good name for my new favorite machine.

I swear each machine I buy weighs a little more than the last.

I really like the two tone blue - very nice! There hasn't been anything lately in the thrift stores here Going to visit DD in FL next week so maybe I'll find something there that will have to come home with me

I'm still seeing interesting machines here. Our local Goodwill had a Sears Commander machine made by White when I was there the other day. A little more than I wanted to spend at $25 with no case though.

Congratulations on your bargains. You've got some beauties for sure! I really don't go looking for machines -- I know I can't buy them anyway -- my wallet isn't full enough to buy and if I spend money on machines, I won't have any money to pay bills! LOL! There might be an exception, but I really haven't been looking for another machine!

I try not to look for them either, that's when I find the best ones! LOL
DH sometimes picks me up from work for lunch; there are 3-4 thrift shops near my office so after we eat we'll pick one and go check it out, just to see what's there. DH buys old records and old radios, and I search for sewing machines and sci fi books. So every once in a while, I go to lunch and come back to work with a new old machine. Then I'm all antsy for the day to end so I can go home and play with my new toy!
I haven't got Betty here up and running quite yet. I had ordered a belt but it was the wrong size (even though my model number was listed, it's a little too big) so I just got another one in the mail yesterday, hopefully that one will fit better. She sort of sews with the larger belt but it slips too much to really judge her stitches. I also scored a tin with a complete set of cams for her on eBay and a manual for a nearly identical model so I'm pretty stoked about that, AND it turns out I already have an accessories tin that looks like what would have come with her originally so that's pretty cool too. I love getting a machine to be "complete" with all her "jewelry"! Next is to get the girl stitching properly and externals all cleaned up (her innards are all greased and oiled, and she has her new needle clamp in place) and then I want to see if I can't get her case looking a little less grody. It doesn't stink, but it LOOKS like it should.
I have some vacation time coming up in December and will be renting a house on the coast for most of a week, I'm thinking Betty will be the perfect machine to bring - seems appropriate I'd be looking out at a turquoise sea while I sew on a turquoise machine! Talk about being in my happy place!
