I wish I thought about making potholders. Somebody made temperature pads and used something else in the middle and I'm not sure what they used, but it was very clever. Works like a charm.

I made some with Insul-Bright recently. I had a layer of batting, then Insul-Bright, then batting, hen the front and back. The seem really heavy and ready for the task. Mariah

It would never occur to me in a million years to make a potholder/table mat that I would have to position correctly before using.

Don't forget that outside fabric has to be 100% cotton. Polyester conducts heat.

I use one layer of the Teflon fabric (shiny side out, then a layer of Insulbrite (the instructions with the Insulbrite say it doesn't matter which side is "out"), one layer of cotton batting, then the top.

Love your cute potholders, and Iagree with the others. A layer of insulbrite, and sandwich that with batting. Just remember which ones you have done with a single layer and don't use them with something really hot, or grab 2.

Lynnie, Are you saying that you use two layers of cotton batting plus two layers of insulbrite? Thanks!
