Question Singer 12 boat shuttle - original? How to thread?

The needle clamp arrived from England a few days ago, so now on the lower thread path of the machine....

The boat shuttle that was included (and fits just fine) does not lopok like a typical Singer 12 shuttle. Here is a photo, which I found on Google and turns out to be one of SteveH's:

Here is what came with my Singer 12, and also illustrated is my virtual attempt at threading it (turquoise lines):

The description from the manual makes sense for Steve's shuttle, but not for mine. I have tried to figure out the path intuitively (and based on other long bobbin shuttles), but already there is a problem - I can't get the thread under that metal bar that stretches alongside the shuttle (opposite of the holes).

Now I'm wondering whether this is an early version of Steve's shuttle or one that belongs to a different machine altogether. And, of couse, how do I thread the thing if it really *is* part of this machine....?

If anyone recognizes this shuttle, please let me know.....

Seems pretty straight forward that the thread should pass underneath the bar opposite the holes. Is it bent so the thread won't fit?

That looks to be a Davis Vertical Feed shuttle but I can't quite tell. Is there a bar inside the shuttle that flips up? If so, it's a Davis.
