Could you look at this machine and tell me what it is exactly? Thank you. This is too far away from me to buy but am interested to see what it is, besides a Singer.

It looks a bit like a model 227, a simple straight stitcher from the 1960s, but not quite. Model 223 has the same lines in the transition to the hand wheel, but it's a zigzagger. It's sort of in that family when it comes too appearence. I'm sure some will recognise it.

It might be a singer 293
If so it was made in France.
not industrial or commercial in any way.
It's ONLY advantage over any old black Singer is its weight.
I'm thinking it was aluminum.
There are some plastic parts.
For the same money I would look for a Singer 404

Labeling something "Heavy Duty" doesn't make it heavy duty. From what I've seen, just the opposite.
That sticker looks like someone added it. I hope it wasn't to fool people into buying the machine.
EDIT I took a closer look. It looks like it's set up to sew with heavier thread than normal. Still, I have my doubts about how well it could handle a steady diet of heavy material.

While I like my 223, I would not call it light weight. It is closer to the weight of my 201-2 than it is to the weight of my aluminum 301A. It has a large balance wheel, and eventually I plan to try it out in a treadle base. It is the only ZZ machine among my VSM and straight stitch Juki, so I leave it set up all the time. I wouldn't want to be carrying it around much.
