That's a nice one. Should be a good tough machine. I love these straight stitchers. About the closest anyone will be able to get is mid to late 1950s for a date. It has the more squarish waist and the blue tension dial that my twin (Brother and Morse) clones have and my Brother is from around 1955 to 1957. The decals on yours are also real similar to mine, could be from the same manufacturer.

It's a 50s to 60s HA1 Clone, made by any one dozens of Japanese manufacturers and badged for whoever sold it.
Look underneath; is there a J- A or J- C number cast, stamped, or inked underneath? If so you can tell who made made it.
Also some of them will actually have their manufactures name there. My HOTHER (avatar pic) was made by JUKI. Has JUKI stamped on everything.

There are also many machines that are identical with different badged names. Universal is also a popular names used by different manufacturers for class 15 machines. Although I love to know who made my machines, when it comes to Japanese ones, sometimes it is not possible.

Hi Joe. I have this machine. Underneath it says J C39 AND JA -40. It also has 13187 on underside. It is a bluish green teal color and it is a CB model Universal Precision Deluxe. I need a piping foot. Please help. What piping foot will fit this machine? Thank you!

It is not often that 15 clones have JA or JC numbers. The list I use didn't have JA-40 and the manufacturer isn't listed for the JC-39 only a badge name with that number.
Would you post a picture of your machine and JA & JC numbers? Generally the file size of the pictures needs to be reduced to something under 2MB. The instructions for posting images can be found at We like pictures. You will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
