    Default Printing PP patterns online

Jan in Fl posted this PP BOM:
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/links-r...n-t273949.html
I printed out the test hearts for a Valentine gift for February. The size my computer (XP) set up was 105%. When I measure the 1" line, I noticed it actually print out to about 7/8" scale. How do you resolve this problem when printing PP off of internet? I have never done this before but this BOM looks interesting. Thanks!

Is your printer's setting set to "shrink to fit?" If your setting is greater than 100%, it may be too big for the page. Is there a reason you are setting it to 105%?

many pdf files will scale the print to fit a standard 8 1/2 x 11 page. Before printing check your print options and ensure scaling is turned off or the "shrink to fit" radio button is not checked. a 1" test square printing at 7/8 definitely sounds like scaling or shrink to fit.

The print settings need to be changed. There are usually two sets. One for the program you are using to download the pattern and the actual printer settings. Check the default setting for your printer. It will override some of the program settings.

THANKS. I changed the setting on the preview screen of my H/P printer from the default of FIT to ACTUAL SIZE. It came out perfect.

I'm glad you got the correct settings for your printer, but now I am also I intrigued by this pattern....I really don't need to start another quilt, but paper piecing a whole quilt is on my "to do" list so I am thinking this might be the one!

Write yourself a note and download the pattern each month. I am not sure how to pick out the fabric for this BOM since I have never done one before. The pattern seems to be free only during each month.

I think I am going to stick with brights...basic colors....and use fat quarters...not sure if I want a very small print or solids...since some of the pieces are very small, I don't see prints working for me...your thoughts?

Maniac, mine came out 7/8 as well. I fiddled around and got it to one inch by making it 102%. I never have any trouble with Jinny Beyer's patterns. They are always to scale. Hmmm, I am wondering.
