This looks like some that I have been seeing on HSN - they do so much with it. Enjoy!

Congratulations! I own a Janome 6500 for 12 years now and really like it. It is supposed to be the same machine. I hope you will post as to how you like the Singer S18. Did it come with the knee lifter? I use mine all the time.

This machine is made by Janome and is the same as the Janome 6500, 9 1/2 in. harp, knee lifter, needle up and down, speed control, auto thread cutter etc . My bed is a clear plastic and not the same as the Singer S18. My Janome 6500 is 12 yrs old and I run it hard daily and have quilted 10 ft x10 ft quilts on it. The Janome 6500 is the fore runner of the Janome 6600, Janome 7700 and Horizon. I have all hopes this singer will live up to the Janome 6500s reputation.

It's actually a Janome 6500P, made for Singer. I did a lot of investigation beforehand and it really is the same machine, only the written stitching index board is different.

I bought the Singer because between the two dealers in town, the other dealer has a not great rep and I've always had great service from the Singer dealer, even though I've never owned Singer before. He really took the time this morning to go over it with me and to be sure I was comfortable with it before sending me off. Hopefully, I made the right choice.

So far, I've made one block (woohoo!) and it's so much easier with the needle down, thread cutter and 1/4" foot!
And the speed control is great for my FMQ...I sometimes get a little heavy on the pedal and my stitches get too small. This is great!

It came with the knee lifter but I'l need a different table to be able to use it.

Getting a new machine is better than getting a new puppy or kitten! Enjoy!
