Default Quilt storage

I just read a great article on the following blog regarding best ways to store vintage or any quilts. duringquiettime.com. Hope this is okay to post.

Most of mine are given away, so I have no say in how to store them.

The few that I have kept are either stored on a bed - several layers of quilts - with a store-bought quilt over them. That's if they are in a sunny room. I take most of the quilts off the bed when company comes, and leave one out for show. One grand niece especially likes one of them because it's bright and really soft, so when she's here that's the one that goes on the bed. She's right, too. it is softer than the other quilts.

We have one room where the sun literally does not shine. So the quilts in that room are allowed to be the sunshine!

Thanks for sharing. My cousin has many quilts with awards to back them up. She stores them every where and most are on display in every room but well done. Her guest bedroom has as many as 30 quilts store in one area but that includes her bed, an armoire, bed side table, a ladder (few of those in her home). One photo she had a quilt laying across a couple others that looked like one long pillow. She changes according to the season. She's getting ready for the reds, then the greens, then it'll be the EAster colors, Memorial Day weekend, etc. She has her wall hanging but like I said she does it tastefully. LIving in Florida she is very aware of the sun and handles that.
