Hello! I have a UFO I need to finish soon, but I am stuck! It's a flannel crazy nine patch for my daughter. I unestimanted the fabric for the backing, so I didn't have enough to bring forward for the binding. I ended up turning it like a pillow and now it needs quilting. Any ideas how to do this without the quilt puckering as I work from center out to the edges? Not certain that pin basting will be enough.

Thanks for your ideas!

How big is it? If it's too big, it may pucker anyway, simply because it is normal for the quilt to draw up 1-3 inches when being quilted.

It may be that you might have to tie it, and that is ok, because a lot of those are really cute. I have a flannel and knit baby clothes fabric that I've used for the quilt. It has been rather miserable because I found that I had to do most of it by hand, to keep it from stretching out. Then I found that if I put interfacing on it, the needles would get sticky from the interfacing and that didn't work so I'm tying this one..:) There are other ways of securing the quilt even more than the tying if you need to and I'm doing that. So Tying it really is a good and viable way to finish out the quilt. Boy, was this long winded HA HA Good luck. :) Beth

Thats what I'm going to do with the Doll quilt i've made... I only have to tie it and then bind. And tying it will make it cute!
