Question: when/if given as gifts do you attach a note stating the time in micro?

I am giving 2 to my son for when he microwaves his oatmeal in the morning BUT for after taking the bowl out of the microwave. I observed him balancing another bowl under his oatmeal so he could hold and eat it. I used batting I had on hand and have no idea of the content so I would not chance them in the microwave.

why not....you hold it by the edges. I wouldn't think it would matter about the batting...I could be wrong tho

Elegant! My husband calls them "comforters".

I'm inspired to do some of these, too. Great gifts - especially for the non-sewers that I know. And, unlike placemats, these would not likely be available to purchase on their own. Yours is beautiful.

After Christmas for a fun, quick project I made a set of these bowls for the microwave. I love using them. Love you fabric.

If you are going to use them under the bowl in the microwave you need to use all cotton products. Cotton fabric, cotton batting (thick or two layers) and cotton thread. Polyester products can possibly melt in the microwave.

I love making these and love the fabrics you chose. They are small projects that give me a boost when I'm stuck on what to start, er, I mean finish next.
