Default What would you do for a border?

Hi Y'all!
My friend made this top, I offered to LAQ it, and we're donating it to the senior center auction this spring. It's 2" squares, and is (I think) 78 x 108. The pattern name is Seven Letters Quilt Pattern Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.
I'd like to add about 7" in borders.
I thought about coming back in and putting a narrow brown and then some type of pieced border on the outside...but I haven't been able to really 'see' anything that I think will go. Do you have any ideas please?

Thanks,

Jan

Wow! Great quilt and lots of work with all of those squares! I'd start with a narrow brown border the size of the squares, so 2". Not sure what beyond that. Ok, just did some Pinterest searching...what about a wide brown border with a row of red and tan blocks like this one:

that's a great quilt. I like your idea of putting in a narrow brown as a stop border. I think a narrow black border would be nice too. I am thinking red for the outer border...

Beautiful quilt! I might play with a thin black inner border and then a wider red one?

You already have a long quilt at 108" in length. I would just put binding on it. Very nice scrappy quilt. Does your friend have any scraps left over to do a piano border on the sides??

Before you add any borders, do an exact measurement of the top. If it is really 108" in length already, I don't think you want to add to that. You could add borders just to the narrower sides, making the quilt closer to a queen or even king size.

Thanks everyone for the comments. It truly is 108 in length - so with a pillow tuck I think it'll be ok with borders. The width on a queen bed just isn't wide enough for enough drop. I have several options and appreciate everyone's input!
