Good suggestions so far...I have made one and once I figured out the directions it went together pretty easy...I did use the 10 degree wedge and had to adjust the pattern for the difference so that could be why it took me more time to work it out.

quiltingshortimer suggested making it wider but this would involve a lot of math...I don't think I would try it.

elageo had my first idea to make 2 or three and come up with a decorative way to attach the points together

AZ Jane had a great idea to contact the pattern designer...you never know they may have addressed this before.

Good luck!

I would cut the stratas straight to put in the center between the two curved sections to add length. Cut them the same length.

Not quite sure I follow what you are saying. Can you draw a diagram?

I think making more sections ( half the S section, or the "Dresden" part) and adding them on would work. The last section on both ends would have the small curly q added.

I have this pattern to do for a friend and she also an extra long table, so I am going to try some of the ideas with paper to see how it works out. Thanks for all the ideas.

What if you made it like it is supposed to be and then appliqued the table runner(s) to a length of fabric so that you have two or three of the spicy spirals on a background fabric? You would still be using the directions that you started out with, but would be getting the length and not lose any of the spiral. You could even reverse applique the spirals so that there were no raw edges. Or use a facing (think clothes sewing) on the outside edge, so that you only have extra fabric for 1/2 to 1" on the outside edge and then applique it (them) down.

I contacted the designer Patty Latourell about possible ways
to extend the length of this pattern. The reply I got from her
is below.

No way to make it that long. You might make two runners. If
you use a 10degree ruler it is longer and make the first cuts
on the chart. U could make extra strata and cut an extra set
of the first pair on the chart never have done this so it would
be an experiment.

Another thought. Cut out for two runners and lay it out not sewing
it, using two each of the cuts and see if that might work. If it doesn't
work then u could sew them separately.

Patty and I are friends on facebook, and she wants to see what I have
come up with if I decide to continue forward with her pattern.
